GOP Looks Bad When Cheney's Under Fire
Dick Cheney made his opinion heard on a couple of controversial topics when he was recently interviewed by John King and other media professionals.
The two stances Cheney is getting flack for are his belief that Obama is making this country a less-safe place, and his belief that harsh interrogation is effective.
Republican House members like Zach Wamp of Tennessee are requesting that Cheney be quite and lay low while they fix the broken party. Wamp said this in respectful way, but still said it publicly.
Whether or not Cheney is good for the party right now, it can't be good for House GOP members to come out publicly against him. This shows the party is divided, and right now, they need to unite.
If Wamp had a problem with Cheney, why couldn't he discuss it within the party before speaking to a reporter from The Hill? It seems like Wamp is trying to divide the party. He said Cheney is unpopular and his views are hurting the party, but isn't Wamp's own view of Cheney also causing damage?
Cheney is a seasoned political veteran, he and more than likely knows what he is doing. How dare someone with less experience come in and try to kick him out of his own party!
The GOP needs people who have been there, they need people who know how things work. Cheney was around before Bush and can't take all the blame for what happened during that administration.
Obama has already spoken out on 60 Minutes against what Cheney said, so republicans who come out aren't just going against some of the most senior members of their own party, they are also agreeing with Obama. Why don't they just switch parties and get it over with?
