Mr. Obama's Idiotic Addiction

The fact that presidents use teleprompters isn't a secret, but some presidents use them more often and make more mistakes.

Mr. Obama hasn't been in politics for very long, but he's already created a track record for using teleprompters frequently and having major gaffes. His most recent major gaffe was during a speech he was giving with the Prime Minister of Ireland on St. Patrick's Day.

During the speech, Prime Minister Brian Cowen started reading a speech that Obama had just given. It turned out the same speech was still in the teleprompter. Realizing what was happening, Obama got up to try and smooth out the situation. When Obama got to the podium, the teleprompter had switched to what the prime minister was supposed to say, and Obama ended up thanking himself for an invitation to the White House.

This is just one of many teleprompter-related problems Obama has had in his short time running for, and being in, office. There were numerous town hall meetings that went awry when Obama wasn't able to have a script in front of him.

The person running the country should be able to speak without the help of an entire team backing him up. Is it really asking too much to have a president who doesn't always sound like an idiot when he's coming up with his own words?

Maybe it would help if Obama took more time out of his day to practice what he was going to say. Instead of filling out an NCAA bracket, he could figure out what he's supposed to be doing that day and come up with an original speech that doesn't require a script from a team of writers.

In a time when the country really needs the attention and help of its president,
Obama doesn't seem to have his priorities in order. It would make a lot of sense if Obama started doing more work. Right now, he's just a guy who tried really hard to get a job, then got it, and is enjoying the perks without doing any of the heavy lifting.
